What are the symptoms of anxiety?

Anxiety can manifest with various symptoms, and the severity and combination of these symptoms can vary from person to person. Here are some common symptoms of anxiety:

Anxiety can be shown in many ways, with many different symptoms. the combination of these symptoms can also be different for everyone so can the severity.

these are some of the most common anxiety symptoms.

  • Worrying or overthinking: this is where you may over analyse or constantly worry about a situation or a problem, sometimes over things that may not even happen.
  • Restlessness: this is where you may have trouble relaxing or being constantly uneasy. Some people may even struggle concentrating.
  • Being irritable: this is where you may lose your temper easier or are quick to get annoyed especially over small issues.
  • Fatigue: feeling tired and have a lack of motivation to do anything, this usually happens die to an emotional strain.
  • Mind Racing: Racing thoughts, where your mind jumps from one worry or concern to another.
  • Sleeping problems: struggling to get a proper amount of sleep, or getting enough sleep, however, it does it have you feeling rested by the morning.
  • Physical: you may start experiencing physical symptoms, such as feeling dizzy, sweaty, and heart racing
  • Avoidance Behaviour: You may start avoiding situations or people that may trigger your anxiety. This sometimes leads to social isolating.
  • Panic attacks: you may start experiencing panic attacks. These are usually characterised by chest pain, shortness of breath, and fear.
  • Developing habits: you may develop nervous habits such as biting your nails, fidgeting, or pacing.
  • Feeling Overwhelmed: Feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks and responsibilities.

It is important to understand that occasionally experiencing anxiety is completely normal, however when these symptoms are constant or become too much to handle is when you should consider getting therapy and consider a diagnosis for anxiety.
